Welcome Home School Parents

If you wish to instruct your child at home and you live in the Northeastern Clinton Central School District, this website will provide you with current information on homeschooling – including the required forms and other valuable parent resources.

Families who choose to provide home instruction must follow the requirements outlined in New York State Education Department Commissioner’s Regulation §100.10. The following timeline provides important dates and required submissions for the school year.

Please submit all required documents to the Home Instruction Coordinator by the deadlines listed below.

July 1, 2026:  Letter of Intent (LOI) Due

Parents/guardians must notify the district in writing of their intent to provide home instruction for the upcoming school year.

The Letter of Intent must include:

• Student's name
• Student's grade level
• Parent/guardian name and contact information
• A statement indicating the intent to provide home instruction
• Parent/guardian signature and date

August 15, 2026:  Individualized Home Instruction Plan (IHIP) Due

The IHIP outlines the planned educational program for the school year.

The IHIP must include:

• Subjects to be taught
• Course content/curriculum materials
• Instructional resources
• Quarterly report dates
• Information regarding the individual providing instruction

The district will review submitted IHIPs to ensure they meet New York State requirements.  Please use the appropriate grade level form below.

Quarterly Reports

Parents/guardians are required to submit quarterly reports throughout the school year. Quarterly reports should include:

• The amount of instructional time completed
• Subjects covered
• Material completed in each subject
• A description of student progress

Quarter 1 Report Due: November 15, 2026

Quarter 2 Report Due: January 31, 2027

Quarter 3 Report Due: April 15, 2027

Quarter 4 Report Due: June 30, 2027

(Families may adjust quarterly report dates if they are listed differently on their approved IHIP.)   Please use the appropriate grade level form below.

Annual Assessment Due: June 30, 2027

An annual assessment must be submitted with the fourth quarterly report.

Depending on the student's grade level and requirements outlined in NYS regulations, the annual assessment may include:

• A written narrative evaluation by a qualified evaluator, or
• A standardized achievement test

The annual assessment provides documentation of the student's progress during the school year.

Important Reminders

✓ Maintain a copy of all submitted documents for your records.

✓ Home instruction must provide at least 180 days of instruction each school year.

✓ The district is responsible for reviewing submitted documentation to ensure compliance with New York State requirements.

✓ Families are encouraged to contact the Home Instruction Coordinator with questions or for assistance.
