Initiating Counseling Services
|
Individual and group counseling is available for all students. Students may be referred by parents, teachers, school staff, or students can request counseling on their own. Can I refer my child for counseling? A parent simply needs to call the school counselor, teacher, or principal to request counseling services for their child. Will I be notified if my child is receiving counseling services? When a child is referred for on going regular counseling by someone other than a parent, the parents will be notified. Confidentiality Maintaining
confidentiality is vital for students to build trust with the counselor.
Therefore, all sessions will be kept confidential. The only exceptions
to this are when safety of the child or another person is jeopardized or
when the child gives permission to share information.

Primary Mental Health Project
|
The Primary Project is a school- based prevention program using expressive play to help children (preschool through third grade) adjust to school, gain confidence and focus on learning. A highly trained adult, called a child associate, provides weekly support and encouragement which helps children function more effectively and become successful learners. Primary Project is a highly successful prevention program found in over 2,000 schools nationally. Parents, teachers and other school staff work together to select children who are beginning to show signs of difficulty in the classroom or children with other life-stressors to participate in the program. Parental permission is needed for participation in Primary Project.
