12th Grade Economics

New York State Board of Regents has mandated a one-semester course of study in Economics.  It is a course designed to provide students with the economic knowledge and skills that will enable them to function as informed and literate citizens in our society and in the world.  It is not meant to be a course in consumer education, although the emphasis is on rationale decision making in economic areas will encourage students to become wiser consumers as well as better citizens.

At the end of the semester all students must pass the class in order to graduate!

Curriculum

Fundamental Economic Concepts: What Is Economics?, Economic Systems and Decision Making, Comparative Economic Systems, Business Organizations and Economic Institutions

Microeconomics: Demand, Supply, Prices and Decision Making, Competition, Market Structures and the Role of Government

Macroeconomics: Country Study including Gross Domestic Product, Population, Economic Growth, and Business Cycles, Unemployment , Inflation and Poverty (If Time: Sources of Government Spending and Revenue, Money and Banking, Financial Investments and Markets)

 

Grading Criteria

80% of your classroom grade will be based on the following

20% of your grade will be based on teacher evaluation.
